Shane Jennings: I hope nobody underestimates us beating England

Shane Jennings has warned Ireland fans not to underestimate today's victory over England, and says we need to ditch talk about the style and focus on enjoying the triumph.

"Great victory, great effort by everybody, and good day for Ireland," Jennings said on Off The Ball post-match.

"Unfortunately we weren't as composed as we should have been ... but what a great win and what a great day. They deserve an awful lot of credit because England came here to do a job.

"At times it wasn't pretty, but they really but they really rolled up their sleeves and they took their opportunities."

Of criticism that Ireland's game has lacked any real expansiveness, Jennings added: "You kick it when it's on to kick and the defence ... there was definitely endeavour and intent for the lads to run it.

"Everybody's giving out if we're kicking too much. We've just beaten England so let's enjoy it."

He added: "It's brilliant. I hope nobody underestimates it.  That's a solid English team that went to Wales and did a job on Wales who are very, very good.

"All this talk of championships and Grand Slams, it really doesn't matter ... we've just beaten England and now we've got we've got an opportunity to go over to Wales continue that momentum in two weeks' time."

Hurley is impressed by the reckons Robbie Henshaw-Jared Payne partnership.

The Munster man said: "It's great to see the two of them have done so well. Henshaw is really standing out. He's using his size. He's a very aggressive player as well. The more he adds to that the better Ireland are going to perform."

"Robbie Henshaw was exceptional," Jennings said after another brilliant display by Ireland's new talisman who scored the only try. "He really stepped up."

Johnny Sexton was again Ireland's hero with another dominant performance. "I think you saw a lot more emotion out of Johnny today," said Jennings. "It meant a lot to him. That's three games for Johnny under the belt. Whether the hamstring is a serious injury or not, we'll have to wait and see."
