Gavin Cummiskey: "It will be very interesting to see how Leinster go up on the Highveld"

Gavin Cummiskey joined Joe Molley on Off the Ball for Monday Night Rugby to review the second round of Guinness PRO14 Championship action.

All four Irish provinces recorded wins at the weekend while the new additions from South Africa are struggling to find their feet in the northern hemisphere.

The Cheetahs lost to Munster at Thomond Park by 51-18 while Connacht downed the Southern Kings by 32-10 in Galway and both South African teams now sit bottom of their respective conferences.

"I got slagged off in my previews of the PRO14 because I did about 20 minutes research on the South African teams," said Cummiskey, adding: "And realised that the Southern Kings are just cobbled together - they lost their entire squad. The Cheetahs are running, they've had to add something like 20 players at least, they have a 55 man squad because they're running in two competitions which is ridiculous.

"I can't wait to find out from South Africa what they're going to do. For starters, they're playing Leinster on Friday night and then they're playing the Pumas in the same stadium on Saturday.

"So they're playing two games in roughly 24 hours the weekend after next - one in the Currie Cup, one in the PRO14.

"We have been asked to give this time..supposedly the Cheetahs sent up their best team up to the northern hemisphere for these past two weeks. You have to also realise that their season didn't end - it just rolled from Super Rugby into this and in Super Rugby they were ridiculously porous as well.

"But, it will be very interesting to see how Leinster go up on the Highveld the week after next with a six day turnaround on a trip that they've never prepared for until a couple of weeks ago," he added.
