Gavin Cummiskey on Munster: "Rassie is going to leave them in a good state when he does move on"

Gavin Cummiskey and Gavin Rich joined Joe Molloy on Off the Ball for Monday Night Rugby to discuss Munster's winning start to the season.

Asked whether there's evidence of a new game-plan developing in the southern province, Cummiskey said: "Yeah there's some evidence of Munster that their game is evolving - Rassie is going to leave them in a good state when he does move on in January.

"Munster do look in good shape. It's early season stuff - they haven't been tested at all yet. They've lost their - this is exactly where all the good South African players are going - they lost their good South African second-row Grobler to an ankle surgery before he got going.

"The guy is supposed to be replacing Donnacha Ryan - who (Grobler) had served a steroids ban which just finished up a year ago and he was brought up to Munster as the guy to replace Dave Foley and Donnacha Ryan who went to France.

"He's gone so Munster have a little problem there but we don't know where Munster are at yet because evidence wise it's been Treviso and a Cheetahs team that just don't look they're going to be competitive on the road," he added.

Erasmus is due back in his native South Africa in January to take up a role with the national team and asked whether there have been moves to get him back earlier, South African rugby writer Gavin Rich said: "I just think they want him back. I think there's an understanding there that they have to let him serve out his time at Munster.

"I haven't picked up any sort of impatience or anything. I think there's an understanding that they want him for next year for when next season rolls around. They're quite happy for him to stay there until Christmas."
