Gavin Cummiskey: "Two years ago we were robbed by Wayne Barnes"

Ireland head to Cardiff this Friday with a Six Nations Championship still to play for after recovering from a shock defeat to Scotland on the opening day.

Ireland picked up a losing bonus point in Murrayfield and followed that up by hammering Italy in Rome and then beating France in Dublin.

Gavin Cummiskey spoke to Joe Molloy on Off the Ball on Monday and expects Ireland to win this weekend. Looking ahead to the game he said: "Wales don't know who their out-half is anymore. They've got a couple of issues with what players they are playing, what way they are playing. The Scottish game - they should have won it. The English game - they feel they should have won it.

"After those results I was initially going 'oh god, their whole season is depending on this game, they're going to throw everything at us.' But Wales can throw everything at us and I still think we can handle it, more than capably.

"It's a very difficult place to go...two years ago we were robbed by Wayne Barnes who is the referee again. I don't say that lightly. Really the decision making he made two years ago was astonishing and then he changed his mind after twenty minutes. Paul O'Connell even felt the need to mention it in his book."

Asked what so odd about Barnes' display that day, he said: "I think he just changed his mind in the game and it damaged Ireland very badly...now I've seen Wayne Barnes handle Leinster-Northampton games, I've seen him do big massive European games with Irish teams involved and we've got stung by him a couple of times over the years whether the provinces or Ireland," he added.

Ireland play Wales in Cardiff this Friday.
