Has the Irish absence blunted interest in this season's Champions Cup finale?

There might not be huge interest from fans on these shores given the lack of Irish involvement, but European rugby's biggest game of the season is taking place on Saturday.

Racing 92 and Saracens go head-to-head in the Champions Cup final at the Grand Stade de Lyon.

France-based rugby writer Gavin Mortimer joined Off The Ball on tonight's show to look ahead to the game and he also spoke about the the general sense this season of muted interest in the knockout stages.

"The fact that the Irish clubs haven't done well this season, they bring such a wonderful colour and atmosphere to crowds, that's been missing and I think that's a worry for the organisers tomorrow about what sort of atmosphere there will be in Lyon," said Mortimer, while also explaining Dan Carter's positive impact at Racing this season on and off the pitch.

He also feels that you "cannot underestimate the importance of Ronan O'Gara at Racing" and says the Munster and Ireland legend represents a "vital link".
