Hayden Triggs commits to Leinster for another season

New Zealand Maori international Hayden Triggs has signed a one-season contract extension with Pro12 table-toppers Leinster.

The 34-year-old joined the province last October from the Auckland Blues, but his contract was only until the end of the season. Triggs has played 14-times this season in both domestic and European competitions.

Triggs has scored one try so far in his spell with Leinster. That came in the 52-0 win at home to Zebre in February. That remains Leinster's biggest win of the season.

"Hayden has been influential since joining us earlier this season and we are probably only now seeing the best of him as he unfortunately suffered that ankle injury against Bath in the Champions Cup", revealed Leinster head coach Leo Cullen.

"In 14 games for us to-date we have seen the leadership that Hayden brings to this team as well as his excellent work ethic with and without the ball."

The province also revealed that Jamison Gibson-Park has been signed from the Hurricanes and will join Leinster  in July. Like Triggs, Gibson-Park has already played for the New Zealand Maori.

"Jamison, for a young player, has a wealth of experience behind him already and was an ever-present in the Blues team last season in Super Rugby before signing with the Hurricanes", Cullen added.

"I think he will bring great competition to an area where we are well serviced with the likes of Nick McCarthy and Charlie Rock pushing the senior players hard already."

Leinster's final game of the season in the RDS takes place on May 20th against Ulster in the Pro12 playoff.
