"You can't expect a team to be beaten, unless you're gonna beat yourself first" - Cian Healy

The Irish squad are waking up this morning in their South Wales base, counting the costs of yesterday's Pool D win over France in Cardiff. Paul O'Connell's tournament looks to be over, while Peter O'Mahony and Johnny Sexton both left the field early in yesterday's games and are doubts for next weekend's quarter final.

Cian Healy was replaced just before the hour mark yesterday in Cardiff, and the Clontarf prop spoke to Dave McIntyre after the win. The 28 year old called the win "pretty special". After Sexton and O'Connell went off injured early, Healy said the team stepped up collectively as two of the teams main leaders exited the field. He added the the two players have brought a new level of intensity to camp. "Everyone has fed into their mentality and how they work".

Ireland conceded ten penalties in the game, with Healy at fault for three of them in the first half. He told Dave he was expecting an earful from head coach Joe Schmidt after the game. "We will probably look at it tonight and get it out of the way". "It's annoying to have that kind of thing hangover the game we have played".

After weeks scrummaging against France and Italy, Healy told Dave he feels his neck injury is improving "feeling as strong as ever". Ahead of the match next weekend, we can only hope Healy is at full strength for what is expected to be another tough encounter.
