"I don't feel like I've been up to standard that I should have been" - Leinster's Jordi Murphy

Ireland and Leinster back-row Jordi Murphy has admitted that he nor the province have been up to standard so far this season.

Leinster are facing a likely Champions Cup exit at the pool stage unless they can spring a surprise on Toulon in their next European fixtures.

"I don't feel like I've been up to standard that I should have been the last few weeks," he told Off The Ball's Ger Gilroy.

"I just think the last game or two, the standard I set for myself, I haven't reached and I think it's a bit of everything really. I've just got to get more involved in the games that I'm playing in and try and make more of an impact like I know that I can."

The Barcelona-born 24-year-old also reflected on Ireland's World Cup exit, having started the quarter-final defeat to Argentina.

"You definitely try and learn some lessons from it. In the immediate aftermath, we got a week off so you just try to get away and clear the mind. But it's definitely one of those things you have to learn from, look back on the game a bit and if you're in that position again where say in four years time I was in with the chance of being in a World Cup squad again, you make sure you don't want to have that feeling again."
