'If you dont turn up ready to roll, they will put you to the sword' - Gopperth on Toulon

Leinster travel to the Stade Velodrome in Marseille on Sunday to face Toulon in the semi-finals of the European Rugby Champions Cup.

Matt O'Connor's side are looking to go one better than last year against the European champions when they were knocked out by the French side in the quarter finals of the Heineken Cup.

Speaking about last year's match, fly half Jimmy Gopperth said today that any side have to be physical against Toulon to have a chance.

"You gotta go in there ready to tackle and get right up in their faces."

In the quarter final win over Bath, Anthony Watson caused the Leinster defence problems and Gopperth knows his side will have to improve against Toulon to have any hope of reaching the Twickenham final.

"Their back three are electric. They can break you from anywhere"

The New Zealander, who is moving to Wasps at the end of the season feels Leinster need to be efficient in attack and superior in defence to win the game.

"They score a lot of tries. If you can really focus on your defence and make them not score and take your opportunities, we could be there or there abouts."

Leinster head coach Matt O'Connor has come under pressure this year for his sides performances this year and Gopperth feels the players and not the coaching staff need to take the blame for performances this season.

"We have been poor this year. We haven't gelled together. We have to be better than that and make the opportunities count when get the opportunities to wear the blue jersey."

You can hear the fully interview with Jimmy Gopperth on tonight's Off the Ball.

Off the Ball will have live commentary of Leinster's game with Toulon on Sunday from Marseille. Keith Wood, Liam Toland and Gavin Duffy will join Dave McIntryre in the Stade Velodrome. Kick off is at 3.15pm Irish time.
