Ireland's world cup dream may have come to an abrupt halt last weekend against the Argentinians, but it appears Head Coach, Joe Schmidt, is already looking forward to the next challenge.
Speaking on last night's Late Late Show, the 50-year-old said that he is relishing the prospect of defending Ireland's Six Nations crown and that preparation begins in the new year.
“I’m absolutely committed to the group of young men who I work with. They are such a good group, I can’t wait to get started post Christmas, looking towards the Six Nations. We’re going forward as best we can and I’m certainly not going anywhere.”
Rumours had been circulating that the Kiwi native might be heading across the water, with the future of Stuart Lancaster in doubt following England's disastrous campaign. Defeats to Australia and Wales saw them exit the competition in the group stages.
Ryan Turbridy had asked him about the rumours and whether they would be dispelled to which Schmidt replied: "I’ve stabbed [the rumours] a few times, they will die pretty quickly I’m pretty sure."
