The Leinster player struck the lock in the mid-riff during yesterday's vital win for Ireland, leaving the Irish management to wait anxiously to find out whether the citing commissioner would take action.
He has now been cited and will discover whether he will be punished tomorrow after a hearing at 1pm in London.
Injury-hit Ireland's next game is the quarter-final against Argentina this Sunday in Cardiff.
