John Ryan: "It was a pretty flattering scoreline in the end"

Man of the match John Ryan opened the scoring to send Munster on their way to the Champions Cup semi-final with a comprehensive 41-16 win over Toulouse.

Speaking to Newstalk Sport's Oisin Langan afterwards, the prop said: "It was a pretty good day out for the whole team to be honest. Unbelievable performance from everyone and our defence was great. They came out hammer and tongs after us. They have a big pack. They brought a big bench so we're delighted with that game.

"It was a pretty flattering scoreline in the end. They were in it for 70 minutes. I think the floodgates opened a bit in the end. We ran in a few tries and their heads went down a small bit. Don't be under any illusions that it wasn't a physical game because there's a lot of sore bodies in there today.

Speaking about the physical challenge laid down by the French side, Ryan said: "Obviously it was a huge focus for us. We knew what they were coming here to do. They were coming here to upset our scrum, to upset our maul. I think we really handled the line-out and the maul very well. I think we held our own - there was a bit of a stalemate in the scrums. They were a bit scrappy but they didn't by any means push us off our ball."
