A new video has been released showing Paul O'Connell reflecting on the end of his Ireland career when speaking with Jonathan Sexton and Rob Henshaw. The video was recorded in September prior to the tournament beginning but has taken on added significance after O'Connell's hamstring injury last weekend against France.
Sexton tells O’Connell in the video that it was a privilege to play under him. The fly half described the Limerick native as “probably the most special guy to have played with”. While claiming he will miss him, Sexton added he won’t miss arguing with O’Connell to which the captain responded; “Johnny, you’d argue with your shadow”.
O’Connell reflected on his career claiming “I never thought I’d go on such a brilliant journey”. "There's no value in seeing the tough side of it", he added when asked how he would prepare for his last few games.
