Keith Wood: 'The season has been very unusual for Connacht'

Former Ireland captain Keith Wood feels Connacht's season has been "unusual".

Speaking to Newstalk's Oisin Langan, he said it was highly unlikely that the province can secure Champions Cup qualification for next season.

"The season has been very unusual for Connacht. All the brpuhaha at the start of the year and the huge acclaim that they were getting, it was always going to be tough. That it comes down to these last couple of weekends to go and deliver is just very, very hard. But you know what? Connacht have consistently shown a level of resilience and they like the tag - I'd say they'd rather they didn't have it - but they like that underdogs tag. But I think it's very tough for them to get qualification."

Keith also gave his take on Munster and Ulster's Pro 12 matches this weekend.

Keith also spoke about the Sports Tourism Summit as well as the importance of Ireland winning the hosting rights for the 2017 Women's Rugby World Cup.
