BOD, Keith Wood and Ferris reveal their most frightening opponents on the rugby pitch

Tonight on Off The Ball, we were delighted to get Irish rugby greats together on stage for a lively chat about Rugby World Cups past and present and much, much more.

First up on the 3 Arena stage with Ger Gilroy tonight were our guest presenter Brian O'Driscoll, former captain Keith Wood, ex-head coach Eddie O'Sullivan and former Ulster and international back-row Stephen Ferris.

And they revealed the players they found most fearsome on the rugby pitch.

BOD's choice was, perhaps unsurprisingly, the powerhouse All-Black Jonah Lomu, recalling one play where "I'm going to try my best here but he's probably going to run over me and get close to running in under the sticks. And I wasn't wrong".

Keith meanwhile picked French former lock Olivier Merle as his most frightening opponent remembering a time when he "clubbed me into the ground and popped my collar bone", while Ferris went closer to home with Paul O'Connell.

They also all paid tribute to O'Connell who has unfortunately been ruled out of the rest of this World Cup through injury.

"You're always going to be worse off for losing a player like Paul O'Connell" said Brian of his former team-mates' enforced loss from the team.

"He's gone so now we have to have a coping mechanism which is the squad and guys stepping up the plate."

The quartet also shared memories of World Cups past and present, from 1999 to the Welsh loss in 2011 and everything in between.
