Peter O'Mahony: "It was a huge improvement on last week"

Munster captain Peter O'Mahony praised his side's performance as they left France with two points after a 17-17 draw with Castres on Sunday in the Champions Cup.

Speaking to Off the Ball's Dave McIntyre after the match and asked if his side were lucky to leave with two points, O'Mahony said: "I'd say if someone took the last ten minutes and just watched that - we were probably very lucky.

"I think over 80 minutes - not so much. We got stuck in physically which is always going to be your first port of call in France, especially in a place like Castres and we did that.

"Look, we could have played some smarter rugby but I was very happy with the effort and the intensity the lads put in.

"Our intensity and our will to win is always there - we've just got to couple that with a bit more technical excellence, if that's the right way to put it, and we did that much better today than we did last week.

"We exited much better at times and I thought our discipline was much better. I think we gave away one penalty in the first half - we need to work on our second half (penalty count) a bit more but it was a huge improvement on last week."

Lamenting the fact that his team didn't capitalise on the wind advantage they had in the second half, he said: "It's probably something we need to work on - being a bit more clever utilising that wind that we had at our back in the second half but as I said there's lots and lots of positives to take out it," he added.

The southern province host Racing 92 at Thomond Park next weekend.
