Peter O'Mahony could be out for quite some time

Munster have confirmed that Ireland flanker Peter O'Mahony is facing surgery on a ruptured ACL injury that he suffered during the Rugby World Cup victory over France.

The Munster captain is now facing a prolonged period of time on the sidelines that could leave him facing a battle to return in time for the start of Ireland's Six Nations defence.

The province explained that surgery will take place "once his knee settles further".
