Saracens flanker Michael Rhodes has been cited for allegedly striking Robbie Henshaw with his head.

The incident in question happened in the second minute of Saracens’ Heineken Champions Cup quarter-final win on Saturday.

The incident was missed by match referee Pascal Gaüzère.

Rhodes will face a disciplinary panel tomorrow, and could miss their semi-final with Racing 92.

The 32-year old went on to put in a man of the match performance in Sarries’ 25-17 win at the Aviva.

"It was a special victory given who we were facing, but ultimately it is no more than any other quarter-final win,” Saracens scrum-half Chris Wigglesworth told The Guardian.

“We are going to have to come down, relax and then go again. We know what level of emotion and intensity we need to bring."

EPCR statement:

EPCR has received a citing complaint against the Saracens flanker, Michael Rhodes (No 6), arising from his club’s Heineken Champions Cup quarter-final match against Leinster Rugby at the Aviva Stadium on Saturday, 19 September 2020.

Rhodes is alleged to have committed an act of foul play in that he struck the Leinster centre, Robbie Henshaw (No 12), with his head the 2nd minute of the match in contravention of Law 9.12.

An independent Disciplinary Committee comprising Simon Thomas (Wales), Chair, Frank Hadden (Scotland) and Val Toma (Romania) will hear the case by video conference tomorrow (Tuesday, 22 September).

The complaint was made by the match Citing Commissioner, Beth Dickens (Scotland).
