Rhys Ruddock has been announced as Peter O'Mahony's replacement in Ireland's World Cup squad.
The Leinster flanker was ruled out of contention for the original squad after breaking his arm in a game in June against Uruguay whilst playing for the Emerging Ireland team in Tblisi.
He missed out on Ireland's Six Nations campaign earlier this year after another arm break against Harlequins in December. His last cap came in the November internationals last year against Australia. He has five caps for Ireland and scored a try against South Africa last November.
The 24 year old has already been involved in the Pro12 this season for Leinster. He made his seasonal debut for the province less than a fortnight ago against the Newport Gwent Dragons.
A replacement for Jared Payne is expected to be announced later today.
Ruddock spoke to Off the Ball last month about his injury and hopes for recovery.
