Simon Zebo once again hints that his future might lie away from Munster

Simon Zebo is one of a number of Irish players currently considering where their future lies as their deals with the IRFU approach their end.

It's no surprise that, given Zebo's exciting style of play and ability to produce some magical moments on the pitch, his name has popped up on the radar of a number of different clubs abroad.

Speaking ahead of his side's match against Leicester on the weekend, 25-year-old seemed unfazed by the transfer rumours, but stopped short of stating that he would be committing himself to Munster in the long-term.

Zebo stated that he has not made any decisions on his future yet, but that he has a lot to consider on that front beyond just his own wishes: "I think first and foremost the decision will be based around myself and my family, so it’s not going to be a selfish one where I say, ‘Oh I need to go for this… or I need to go for this’".

The Irish international added that "I can’t be selfish. There is a lot of things going to come into play. Hopefully soon enough we will be able to make a decision, and cross that bridge then".

Zebo said that he won't be making any decisions until his management can put all the details of the deals in front of him: "once everything is known then it will be easier to make my decision, and decide what is best for me".

He stated that while Munster was always going to have a special place in his heart, given he has grown up supporting and playing for them, but he somewhat ominously finished off by saying that "rugby is a business and you can’t get swallowed up. You have to look after yourself, and know what’s best for you and your family. Hopefully everything works out the way I would like it to".

Rumours of a deal that would see Ian Madigan moving to Munster and Robbie Henshaw moving to Leinster have made this a turbulent few weeks for the IRFU, and suggests that there's a tough time ahead for their negotiation team as they prepare to sit down with the players to work out their deals.
