The Springboks have been cleared to return to training for their Monday afternoon session in preparation for their first test match since the 2019 Rugby World Cup final on Friday.

South Africa are set to return to international rugby against Georgia in Pretoria, however they were struck by a setback on Sunday, after three players tested positive for COVID-19.

Following feedback received from the Castle Lager Lions Series Medical Advisory Group on Monday, the world champions were cleared to return to training, with two of the three players that had tested positive remaining in isolation in the team hotel. Scrumhalf Herschel Jantjies, however, has subsequently been cleared and can return to training,

In light of this, the strict precautionary measures taken by the team and the effective isolation protocols since the squad assembled, the Springboks can resume their training programme from Monday afternoon, according to a statement released by the South African Rugby Union on Monday.
