STATS: Henshaw's heroics even more immense when you look beyond his try

Before yesterday's match, injured Ireland winger Andrew Trimble had told Off The Ball that his team-mates needed to "stop the rot" against England.

Less than 24 hours on, and there is no question that they did that and more as they draw ever closer to a second championship in a row - and maybe another Grand Slam.

You can pick out plenty of key performers and numbers - from the 14-point playmaker Johnny Sexton and the 44 Ireland kicks that had England chasing back, to the 132 ball-carries that Joe Schmidt's side managed and accuracy at the lineout.

But of course, it can also be seen as the game in which man-of-the-match Robbie Henshaw really arrived on the international scene following encouraging performances in the tournament so far, with his 52nd-minute try, which featured the qualities he would have picked up in his past excursions at full-back with Connacht.

But there was more to his performance than tries as the official Accenture Match Data reveals.

The player in possession of the No12 shirt beat three more English defenders than any other Irish player on the pitch with (Simon Zebo was second in that regard). Indeed, he finished joint-top for defenders beaten with England No8 Billy Vunipola during the 19-9 victory. In addition, he was the only man in a green shirt to manage a single clean break during the match.

Along with Zebo and Rob Kearney, the 21-year-old finished joint-second when it came to the number of carries (10), behind Jack McGrath and Peter O'Mahony, who both finished with 11 within the 80 minutes.

Defensively, he also put in a stellar shift, topping the Irish tacklers count with 14, two ahead of captain Paul O'Connell.

He also won turnovers (again the most of any Ireland player), although the one blot on his copybook was 6 missed tackles - more than any of his team-mates.

But that is only a minor concern for a player quickly growing into the shirt, and it's the try and overall performance that will be the souvenir from a vital victory over England. So roll on Wales in two weeks' time.
