"Throw him straight in because he’s good enough"

Former Leinster out-half Andy Dunne believes Jordan Larmour is ready to answer Ireland's call.

Joe Schmidt will begin the build-up to the Six Nations in the coming weeks when the squad is assembled at Carton House for training.

Ireland begin their campaign away top France in the 2018 Six Nations on Febraury 3rd and Dunne is calling for Larmour to be included.

The 20-year-old has been in scintillating form for the Blues this season. He announced his arrival to the scene with a try on his debut against Dragons.

Larmour also produced a dazzling display in his first game against Munster and scored one of the best individual tries of the season against Munster on St Stephens Day.

Dunne has told OffTheBall.com's breakfast show OTB AM that the full-back has earned a chance:

“I certainly would be of the school of thought that you throw him straight in because he’s good enough, he can do things most guys can’t do.

“You have to go back 20 years at the highest level and not find someone who can do that in a Leinster – Munster game.

“He can learn defensively how to improve quickly under pressure, you’ve got to allow him to make a mistake or two at the highest level and keep him there.

“I wouldn’t say he deserved to just go in there and start but he needs a couple of international games to grow his confidence, the worst thing you can do with a guy like that is start chipping away at him.”
