The rugby world is in mourning at the loss of New Zealand icon Jonah Lomu.
Lomu died last night in Auckland after recently returning from a family holiday in Dubai. He was heavily involved in promotional work throughout England during the World Cup.
A star of the 1995 and 1999 World Cups, Lomu never won the Webb Ellis Cup but was part of the All Blacks team who lost to South Africa in the iconic 1995 final. He is joint record holder of most tries in the World Cup along with South African Bryan Habana. Both men crossed the try line on 15 occasions,
He was the undoubted star of the 1995 World Cup and gained global attention after scoring four tries against England in the World Cup semi final in Cape Town. In a 2006 interview he called the first try in that game as a "defining moment in my career".
Lomu suffered from kidney issues throughout his lifetime. He underwent a kidney transplant in 2004 but the transplant failed. He was on the waiting list for another transplant before his untimely death.
