How did Irish women's rugby reach this successful juncture?

Fresh from beating the mighty New Zealand last week, the Irish women's rugby team is one step away from a first ever World Cup final.

Standing in their way is England and while a victory would be amazing for the team and country, it is also worth noting how far Irish women's rugby has come in recent years.

It is a journey that Scrumqueens.com editor and Rugby World Magazine Alison Donnelly has followed closely and on today's Monday Rewind, the former Irish women's team press officer spoke to Oisin Langan about the rise to prominence of the reigning Six Nations Grand Slam champions since the '90s.

"It's come a long way in such a short space of time," she explains.

The Monday Rewind is also available as a free download on iTunes and you can also listen in via Soundcloud

Also on this week's Monday Rewind, The Score's GAA editor Fintan O'Toole on the weekend's Gaelic football and I look at the Community Shield final between Arsenal and Manchester City, as well as the build up to the new Premier League season.
