Why you should attend the All Ireland Camogie final - Sinead O'Carroll

On Sunday, the All Ireland Camogie Championship reaches its apogee as Cork and Kilkenny go head-to-head at Croke Park.

The Journal.ie news editor Sinead O'Carroll believes it is a match that people should be going to after a summer which saw great coverage of the Irish women's rugby team and plenty of discussion about women's sport in Ireland.

"This Sunday there's going to be a huge number of brilliantly talented women on display just down the road. So why not stop talking about it and park your bum on a seat in Croke Park. It's €25, it's not a big ask and it should be a really great game to watch," said O'Carroll, who hurls with Kildare.

In terms of boosting the position of women's sport, O'Carroll want to see new people getting involved and also heroines and role models for young girls to look up to.

"It's important for the girls in primary school now get to see those women," said O'Carroll, who also mused about the need for greater commentary on the subject of camgoie.

"A commenter made a really good point as well about maybe we need a Dunphy or a Joe Brolly. Maybe we need someone to take it on and be a good commentator as well on it."
