Ali Reghba poised for Leicester move after leaving Bohemians

Ali Reghba has confirmed his departure from Bohemians, with a move to Leicester City in the pipeline.

The 19-year old scored twice on his senior debut for the Gypsies in a 3-1 victory away to St. Patrick's Athletic towards the end of last season. Reghba had piqued the interest of a few British clubs, none more-so than Leicester.

Reghba spent a period on trial with the Premier League side in January, playing for their U23 side in the Premier League 2 against Everton and Swansea. He scored twice in a 3-nil win over Swansea on January 14th.

But it appeared such interest was put to bed when the stocky forward signed a one-year deal to remain with Bohs in February.

Speaking at the time, Reghba told the Bohemians website, "I’ll always remember my debut. That game showed you the trust that the manager has in youth players at the club. He gave a load of us an opportunity.

"You want more days like that. I want to play week in week out."

Such regular football was not to materialise this season. Reghba has been a marginal figure as Bohs rose to 3rd in the SSE Airtricity Premier Division table. The Republic of Ireland U19 international's last game for Keith Long's side saw him taken off 12-minutes after his introduction as a substitute away to Dundalk in May. Bohs lost the game 2-1 courtesy of an injury time Pat Hoban penalty.

The German-born player of Irish and Algerian parentage confirmed his departure from the Phibsboro club on Instagram. Reghba thanked Bohemians "for everything over the past two seasons".

"Some big big memories that will stay with me forever and very thankful for all the coaches and staff that have helped on my journey to where I am now. Made some friends for life on the way too."

A permanent move to Leicester is set to be confirmed in the coming days.
