Are Barcelona's defence in dissaray?

The La Liga season begins this weekend with Barcelona hoping to match the treble winning exploits of last season, but the Catalan side are already having trouble in defence.

Luis Enrique's side have already conceded nine goals in three games including in the 5-4 win over Sevilla in the UEFA Super Cup and a 4-0 loss to Athletic Bilbao in the Spanish Supercopa. They have also lost Gerard Pique to a four game ban after he was sent off against Bilbao.

Graham Hunter spoke to Off the Ball last night and he thinks the issue has more to do with defensive issues. He told Ger that the pre season preparations have been stressful including playing in America in different time zones and their late night game in Tblisi against Sevilla.

"You will see a stingy, mean Barcelona" when Pique returns and the team returns to form according to Graham.

Graham also spoke to Ger about calendar alterations to the Spanish season along with the transfers of Nicolas Otamendi to Manchester City and Mateo Kovacic to Real Madrid. Manchester United lost out on the Argentine defender after he moved to their city rivals. Ger was told that; "dont believe that United never wanted Otamendi". The transfer to Manchester City happened simply because City moved quicker for the former Valencia and Porto defender.
