Arsene Wenger and Pep Guardiola go head-to-head in the Champions League tomorrow night as their Arsenal and Bayern Munich sides clash.
But Wenger has revealed that his counterpart was interested in playing for him at a certain time.
"He wanted to play with me as a coach. He wanted to play for Arsenal. I met him, he was 30-31 back then," said Wenger of the former Barcelona captain, who then went on to play for Brescia in Italy at the age of 30, before also playing for Roma, Qatari club Al-Ahli and Mexican side Dorados.
"I can't really remember, after that he went to Italy and I had players like [Patrick] Vieira and [Emmanuel] Petit who were still young and played for the national team as well."
Arsenal beat Bayern 2-0 in their previous group stage clash at the Emirates.
