Andy Murray admits he’s feeling the heat Down Under even though he cruised into the last-32 of the Australian Open on the hottest day of the tournament so far.
The Scot made light work of Marinko Matosevic to win in straight sets, 6-1, 6-3, 6-2, and maintain his 100-per-cent record over Australian opponents.
"It was challenging because the conditions were completely different to the first day," said the three-time Australian Open runner-up. "It was probably about eight or nine degrees warmer, which changes the way the court plays, the way the ball flies through the air.
"We have to make some adjustments, but I got off to a quick start today. That settled me down a little bit and I went on to play a pretty good match.”
Murray also labelled his next opponent, Portugal's Joao Sousa, a "dangerous" threat in the third round.
Meanwhile, Roger Federer needed to come from a set down to beat Italian Simone Bolelli, 3-6, 6-3, 6-2, 6-2.
Elsewhere, in the women’s singles, Maria Sharapova survived a scare in reaching the next round, saving two match points to eventually get past another Russian in Alexandra Panova.
