WATCH: Brian Kerr outlines the potential effects of Tottenham's latest Wembley woe

Given the major question marks around Tottenham in regards to their struggles at Wembley Stadium, the last thing they wanted to do in their first nominal home game of this Premier League season was to lose at that particular ground.

But lose they did, falling 2-1 to a Chelsea side inspired by the goals of left wing back Marcos Alonso.

Tottenham have made attempts to try and make Wembley feel more like home as they spend the season there before their own ground's construction is completed ahead of next season.

Off The Ball had live coverage of the Chelsea match on Sunday with Nathan joined by former Ireland manager Brian Kerr on commentary.

And Kerr shared his concerns about Spurs and the Achilles heel of not having a veritable home ground.

"I don't think they'll be as good as they were last season at home," he said.

"Their home record last year was extraordinary with 17 wins and two draws from 19 games. I didn't envisage that would be the case this year that they could do that.

"But the last thing they would have wanted of course was a defeat in their first home game, given the history, given recent seasons, given last year in the Champions League when they lost two games here out of the three. They beat CSKA Moscow but lost to Monaco and Leverkusen and also lost to Gent int he Europa League [over two legs] with a 2-2 draw which was enough to put them out.

"So they've started this one with a defeat which raises question marks and also gives the future opposition teams here a bit more confidence."
