Cameroon top Africa Cup of Nations Group A despite Guinea Bissau's sensational solo goal

Cameroon have gone top of Group A at the Africa Cup of Nations after enjoying a 2-1 win over tournament debutants Guinea Bissau.

The Indomitable Lions, who have won the Nations Cup on four occasions, had to fight back from 1-0 down to secure the three points and move within touching distance of knockout stage qualification.

The goal that left Cameroon trailing was sensational though as Guinea Bissau's Piqueti picked up the ball deep in his own half. He lobbed the ball over an opponent before embarking on a barnstorming run down the right side of the Cameroon defence.

He then kept going at pace, running at the opposition back line before cutting inside onto his right foot, sizing up the centre back and then finishing coolly past the goalkeeper from 12 yards out.

Guinea Bissau had earned a creditable draw against hosts Gabon in their group opener but couldn't hang on this time.

Cameroon equalised when Sebastian Siani found the bottom corner with a shot from outside the box just after the hour mark.

And 12 minutes from time, Michael Ngadeu-Ngadjui also had a go from range and found his mark to make it 2-1 and lift Cameroon up to four points from two games.

Guinea Bissau remain on one and face Burkina Faso in their final group game. Cameroon will take on hosts Gabon.

Gabon and Burkina Faso were in action in the earlier match and it was the host nation that found themselves trailing as Prejuce Nakoulma made the most of a speculative long ball and questionable defending before prodding in Burkina Faso's opener.

But Borussia Dortmund star Pierre Emerick Aubameyang won a penalty for Gabon when he was brought down by Burkina's keeper and he levelled from the spot.

Both sides are on two points from two games, two behind group leaders Cameroon.
