Champions League Preview: Man City head to Monaco with a 5-3 lead

Manchester City head to France to face free-scoring Monaco with a 5-3 lead as they look to salvage something from Pep Guardiola's first season in charge.

City face a defining period over the coming weeks domestically, playing three of the top five teams consecutively. Despite progressing to the semi-final of the FA Cup, Guardiola is expected to win either the league title and/or the Champions League.

Although they take an advantage to the Mediterranean coast tonight, progression is far from guaranteed.

Monaco are top of the French Ligue 1, three points ahead of big spending PSG. They have scored a remarkable 84 goals in their 29 league matches so far this season.

Striker Radamel Falcao sustained a hip injury at the weekend but is expected to play tonight while Kamil Glik is suspended.

As for City, forward Gabriel Jesus and midfielder Ilkay Gundogan are their only senior players injured.

Elsewhere, Atletico Madrid take a commanding 4-2 lead back to the Vincente Calderon when they host Bayer Leverkusen.

Fernando Torres is available for selection tonight after recovering from a horrific head injury on 2nd March in La Liga which required his transfer to hospital.

Leverkusen followed with the heavy home defeat to Atletico with a 6-2 drubbing at the hands of Borussia Dortmund which led to the departure of coach Roger Schmidt. Tayfun Korkut was the man they named to replace him.

Both matches kick off at 19:45 tonight.
