REPORTS: Shane Keegan is ready to quit Dundalk role

It has been suggested that Shane Keegan intends to depart his role at Dundalk after a terrible start to the new League of Ireland season for the Louth club.

The nominal manager of the 2020 FAI Cup winners, it is understood that Filippo Giovagnoli remains the key decision maker at Dundalk.

Publicly promoted to the top job prior to the start of this season, this decision was informed by the Italian's lack of the necessary coaching Pro Licence.

It is now being reported by Daniel McDonnell of the Irish Independent that Shane Keegan is ready to leave Dundalk.

Dundalk

Despite last season's good run through to the Europa League group stages and FAI Cup success, this new domestic season has started poorly for Dundalk.

After securing a 1-1 draw against Sligo Rovers at The Showgrounds on the opening day, the club formerly managed by Stephen Kenny have proceeded to lose three on the bounce.

For more on Keegan's reported departure, join OTB Sports from 3.00 pm where Daniel McDonnell will be joining John Duggan live on OTB's Football Saturday.
