Ederson Moares joins Manchester City

Manchester City have announced the signing of Benfica goalkeeper Ederson Moares.

The 22-year-old Brazilian has yet to play international football at a senior level for Brazil. The transfer fee was not published, but he is expected to be one of the most expensive goalkeepers in the World.

Signing a six-year deal, the deals casts more doubts over the futures of Claudio Bravo and Joe Hart at the team. Bravo only joined last summer from Barcelona, while Hart spent the season on loan with Torino in Serie A.

The Sao Paulo native moved to Portugal as a teenager and was part of Benfica's youth teams. He had spells with  Ribeirao and Rio Ave before returning to the Lisbon side.

At Benfica, he has impressed in the past two years. He was part of the side that won the Portuguese League in the past two seasons.

Speaking to Manchester City's website, the Brazilian revealed his delight at joining Pep Guardiola's side.

"This is a great club, the league they have here in England and they have amazing fans and they play splendid football. I have always had the dream to play in English football and now I'm going to make it true."

"With Pep Guardiola, City are growing more and more. He is putting in place a young team for the future. Those were important factors in making my decision."

"Manchester City has an amazing squad. I think they managed to have a good season. Next season, we will have to be focused to achieve the goal of winning trophies."
