Eva Carneiro has not returned to work since being publicly castigated for running onto the field in order to tend to injury stricken Eden Hazard with Chelsea's game against Swansea hanging in the balance.
It has been almost a month since Jose Mourinho criticized his medical staff and reduced the roles of both Eva Carneiro and Jon Fearne and while much of the media attention has waned, Carneiro has still not returned to her role as Chelsea's first team doctor.
Mourinho was the subject of fierce criticism for his attack on the medical staff and his quotes that accompanied the pair's demotion. The Portuguese manager stated that "I was not happy with my medical staff. You have to understand the game. Even if you are a kit man, a doctor or a secretary on the bench you have to understand the game and you have to understand that you have one player less."
He said at the time that, "Jon Fearn and Dr Carneiro will not be on the bench. But that doesn't mean they cannot be in the future. It is my decision."
Fearne has continued to work at Chelsea's Cotham training ground but has not been on the bench since the game against Swansea.
It is looking more and more likely that Carneiro will not return to her role on the Chelsea bench and is currently consulting with law firm Mischon de Rey as to what is the next step in this situation.
