FC Barcelona want to become the first club to have €1billion in revenues

FC Barcelona are aiming to become the first club that have over €1billion in revenues.

According to the Financial Times, the Catalan giants revealed a six-year business plan that is to include expanding their Nou Camp stadium.

“There are no other clubs in the world, whether in football or in other sports, that think ahead more than one or two seasons. But here at Barça we do,” he says. “We want to be the first club to reach €1bn in revenues”, according to club president Josep Maria Bartomeu.

Among Bartomeu's plans for the club are to set up a University and to broaden their global reach. The club has only one commercial office abroad. They hope to open offices in New York, São Paulo and Shanghai in 2016 to complement the office that is already in Hong Hong. “Those are the markets where Barça is pushing for growth,” he says.

The key to the growth is the expansion of the famous Nou Camp stadium. The capacity is due to rise from 97,000 to 105,000 and will include a roof. Currently only one side of the stadium is covered by roof.
