Former Republic of Ireland defender David Meyler believes there is still road to be run in the title race and that February will be a key month for Liverpool.

The Reds are 16 points clear with a game in hand after their win over Manchester United and the title is effectively done in even the most superstitious fan's eyes.

But it appears that Meyler is superstitious, as he still refuses to believe that the title is fully done and dusted.

February key for Liverpool

"Everybody will just say that Liverpool have won the league title," says Meyler

"In the back of your mind, you are just thinking that they cannot continue going like this.

"I said, when they were on that wonderful run, that February would be the time that they would drop points. I don't know why I had that in my head.

"I don't think that they will go unbeaten. I just think that there will be a game where things won't go for them and there will be a couple of mistakes. But that will then re-focus the team again.

"But I don't think that they are focused on that 'Invincibles' title, I think they want that first Premier League title."

Meyler also believes that Liverpool would do well to avoid focus on going unbeaten to motivate themselves, concentrating instead on their first top-flight

"I wouldn't focus on that. You are going to see a whole host of social media interviews, with Sky, Match of the Day saying 'We are just focused on the next game.'

"I think that is true. I think that is what Jurgen Klopp has instilled that in them.

"The [Invincibles] thing will only become a reality once they win the title. Once they have that done, they can look at going unbeaten."
