Fresh rumours about Pep Guardiola's future will delight Manchester United fans

Following days of speculation indicating that Pep Guardiola was plotting a move to Manchester City next year, fresh rumours have surfaced to suggest that the successful coach could be deflecting to Manchester United instead.

If the rumours prove to have any substance, United will have to reconsider the terms of Louis van Gaal's contract, which is supposed to last for another season.

Bayern Munich are determined to secure Guardiola's services and are eager to get his signature on a new contract when his term comes to an end next June. President of the club, Karl Heinz Rummenigge insists that the situation will be resolved over the winter break, but they are aware of the Spaniard's future ambitions.

Former United chief Sir Alex Ferguson previously mentioned in a book that he held discussions with Guardiola over dinner in New York during the 2012-2013 season, to try and lure him to Old Trafford. The 44 year-old later went to Bayern Munich and negotiations with United were not proposed again.

Talk of a move to Manchester City has been at the centre of media commentary in recent days but Guardiola has not given any formal confirmation about his future movements.

Regardless of how the rest of the saga unfolds, it is strongly believed that Guardiola will go to the Premier League at some point in the near future and some comments suggest that he may use a term at a Premier League side as his final act before retiring from club management by the time he turns 50.
