From tattoos and not celebrating a winner, Liverpool's Alberto Moreno hasn't forgotten his Sevilla roots

For most of the Liverpool squad that has been picked tonight, winning the Europa League is an important step as they try to establish themselves as key parts of Jurgen Klopp's revolution.

But for Alberto Moreno, there will be an added layer of poignancy as the Reds prepare to take on Sevilla.

The left-back is a native of the city of Seville and a product of their very successful youth academy.

The La Liga club's youth ranks have produced local talent like Jesus Navas, Jose Antonio Reyes, the late Antonio Puerta, Real Madrid skipper Sergio Ramos and Moreno was no different.

Having joined Sevilla's underage categories at the age of 13, he made his first team debut in 2012, quickly gaining game-time and experience in La Liga and Europe.

But like Navas, Reyes and Ramos, the 23-year-old had to seek fortune elsewhere with Sevilla not fearing the need to sell their talented assets.

Liverpool were the lucky club in that sense, as their bid of €15 million proved enough to prise him from his home town club.

His form has been up and down since then as most observers will have noted. While a threat going forward, defensively he has been shaky at Liverpool, with a propensity to occasionally dive into challenges and also get the wrong side of his direct opponent when marking.

One example was the penalty he gave away against Norwich in a crazy 5-4 win in January when he fouled Steven Naismith in quick succession.

Indeed, he started the season behind the injured Joe Gomez, although Klopp appears to value him ever since he was appointed in place of Brendan Rodgers.

But as he settles into life at Anfield, the love for Sevilla clearly remains strong.

Commenting before tonight's final to MARCA, he said of the prospect of beating Sevilla, "it was the club that has made me a footballer. For many reasons I couldn't and wouldn't celebrate. It might even make me cry with joy and sadness at the same time."

Of course, he emphasised that he wants Liverpool to win - which he should as they pay his wages.

But he carries a little bit of Sevilla wherever he goes in the shape of a leg tattoo inked into the back of his calf showing the coordinates of the stunningly beautiful architectural wonder of the Plaza de Espana in Seville.

For tonight though, all roads lead to Basel but don't expect Moreno to celebrate if fate puts the winning goal at his boot.
