Even in a short cameo, former Manchester United centre back Gary Pallister has seen enough from youngster Angel Gomes to excite him in regards to his potential.
The ex-Middlesbrough defender was in Dublin, speaking at the launch of the International Club Game between his former club Manchester United and Italian top flight side Sampdoria which will take place at Aviva Stadium on August 2nd.
Pallister was impressed by what he saw of Man United youngster Gomes who made his debut for the club on Sunday's final day against Crystal Palace at the age of 16.
"You saw young Gomes come on yesterday. He's just got young Player of the Year at the club and he's had a terrific season," said Pallister.

"He's even smaller than Paul Scholes and that says an awful lot but his talent is huge and I think he's impressing a lot of people. He got 5-10 minutes yesterday to blood him at Old Trafford and he looked comfortable. I know it's only a few minutes but you could see him searching for the ball and wanting to get on the ball and that's great to see from a kid at that age to play in front of 76,000 fans and to see him demanding the ball from senior pros was great."
Man United play in the Europa League final this week which gives them a chance to get into next season's Champions League having failed to do so through the league.
Pallister does not see the sixth place league finish as a failure.
"I wouldn't say it's seen as a failure. I'd say it's seen as maybe disappointing. When you're the size of Manchester United, you're looking at Champions League football every year and that's something we've not been able to deliver by our league place so that's something that I'm sure Jose [Mourinho] is a little bit concerned about," said Pallister.
"He's maybe talked about putting all his eggs in one basket and after so many draws at Old Trafford, it made it difficult for us to qualify through the Top Four, so he's made sure we've got to this Europa League final where hopefully on Wednesday night, we'll cement that Champions League place."
