Man United's handling of Moyes sacking was "dreadful" - Giles

John Giles says the way Manchester United handled the sacking of David Moyes was "dreadful".

The former Everton manager was dismissed on Monday amid accusations that he had to read media reports about the eventuality before the club even contacted him to inform him of their decision.

John was on the show tonight and he slammed Man United for the events of the past few days.

"For a club of the stature of Manchester United behaving that way was absolutely dreadful. David Moyes was entitled to feel very annoyed. It was definitely leaked. I think the club leaked it to the press and the press boys will respond by giving Manchester United a good show in the papers - spin it their way," he said.

John also shared his disquiet about the role Alex Ferguson has played. Fergie was part of the group which decided that Moyes tenure had to come to an end, despite imploring all at Man United to back his successor last May.

"I'll tell you what I found interesting and a little bit depressing - and I believe to be true - that some of the players went to see [Ferguson]. For him to entertain the players at all was total disloyalty to the present manager. He should have said 'I don't speak to you and if you have anything to say, you should say it to the present manager,'" said John.

He also raised a metaphorical eyebrow at Ryan Giggs' claim that the team will return to playing the 'Man United way' and why he thinks it might be best for the Class of 92 to move on.

But, the handling of the decision notwithstanding, did he think United were ultimately right to part ways with Moyes?

Listen to the full interview via the podcast, which also includes his analysis of Bayern Munich's defeat to Real Madrid and his take on the difference between the Moyes and Brian Clough-at-Leeds situations.

John also revealed that Leeds' team-mate Jack Charlton was one of the pioneers when it came to standing in front of the opposition goalkeeper at corners.

You'll also hear how John paraphrases the C-word during the discussion on Man United.
