On a Thursday in between a Europa League final and an FA Cup final, John Giles was chatting about the pain of falling at the last hurdle during his own career on tonight's Off The Ball.
But he was a bit taken aback by the sight of Liverpool players crying on the pitch after losing to Sevilla in Europa League final.
"Sitting on the pitch crying, I can't go for that at all," he said.
"I'll curse Paul Gascoigne for the rest of my life because he started it years ago. It was because he was going to miss the [1990 World Cup] final if they got through. But now I see them last night and [Emre] Can was on the pitch with his jersey over his head crying. It seems to be part of the game now - if you lose something you start crying.
"There'll be another match coming along. You've just got to get over it as best you can. Get on with it! You win some, you lose some. You're not going to solve anything crying about it."
