Tonight on Off The Ball, Graeme Souness spoke of his shock at learning of the passing of Bill O'Herlihy.
The Liverpool legend shared the RTE soccer panel with the Cork man many times and he joined us to remember the great moments.
"My experience of working with Bill, he was great to work with because he got the best out of people," he said.
"He asked the difficult questions, but he asked them in a way in which it put you on the spot. But it was a nice way of putting you on the spot. And you had to answer it. They were deliberate and to the point and he asked them with a bit of mischief. He was a class act. You couldn't help but like the man."
With his experience of punditry in Ireland, where there was an impression of freedom and also in the UK, where caution abounds, Souness compared the two, saying: "The reason for that is Sky have to go out every day and send camera crews to training grounds to speak to players and chairmen and there's a certain caution attached to the way they would approach things. I think Bill, although he looked charming and was charming, enjoyed the mischief and the cutting stuff and the on-the-edge stuff."
