Guardiola hails 'incredible' League Cup success

Pep Guardiola says it was a special moment to win the English League Cup for a third consecutive time at Wembley Stadium today.

His Manchester City side beat Aston Villa 2-1 in London thanks to goals from Sergio Aguero and Rodri.

The Spanish coach hailed his players at full-time for their performance and their efforts in overcoming a stubborn Villa side.

"Three times in a row is a big success. It is consistency, being there every day - it's incredible.

"[The performance] was awesome.

"We struggled in the first minute, they had two clear chances in the first minute with the header and the corner.

"We played really well though, especially in the second half. With a 2-1 score sometimes you don't know if you should attack or keep the result."

Guardiola was keen too to stress the importance of 19-year-old midfielder Phil Foden, who was named man of the match.

He provided the assist to Sergio Aguero for the first goal.

Guardiola was happy with how their switching from one flank to the other worked so well, particularly in the first half.

"When defending with four you can do it, with five it's more difficult. Phil was clinical there, it was a big success.

"Second title of the season - Community Shield and now this, it's nice.

"It's not a big competition but every game we play I try to win and I try to win every competition. Three times in a row, being here is a lot."
