Tunisia goes all out to welcome Manchester United starlet Hannibal

Promising Manchester United youngster Hannibal Mejbri has been the subject of an unusual introduction to international football.

While the French-born 18-year-old had represented his native country at underage level, Hannibal's decision to play for Tunisia at senior level has been very well received indeed.

An exciting young prospect making his way through the Manchester United academy, Hannibal was unveiled to the Tunisian public in what can only be described as some sort of X-Factor-esque ceremony.

In a video clip being circulated online, a packed room of dignitaries and media figures are shown to be sitting excitedly as dramatic backing music plays over the speakers.

After around a minute of this build-up, Hannibal Mejbri walks out on stage - somewhat timidly giving the grandiose stage design - as strobe lights and a burst of flames welcome him to Tunisia.

Seen as something of a coup for the north African country to have convinced Mejbri away from the chance of representing France, they were clearly keen to make a good impression.

Manchester United were sufficiently impressed by the teenage attacking talent to spend a fee rising to €10 million on Hannibal when he was signed from Monaco in 2019.

Under Ole Gunnar Solskjaer, he made his senior debut for the club against Wolves on the final day of the Premier League season.

Earlier this month, Mejbri was also named United's Under-23 Player of the Year and it is expected that he will be included in the club's pre-season training squad when they travel to Malta this summer.
