The interminable ceremony eventually revealed what teams would face off against each other in this year's Champions League, with all the best sides in Europe ready to compete for the biggest prize in club football.
This year's draw was a slightly unusual one in that Sevilla were the fifth Spanish team to get into the competition, and with Lazio missing out in the qualifiers, there were only two spots for Italian club sides.
That made for some interesting combinations, in particular Group D, where Manchester City once again got a very tough draw, something that is becoming a bit of a habit for Pellegrini's side.
Meanwhile, Chelsea boss Jose Mourinho will return to face one of his former sides in the shape of Porto, as the two teams meet in Group G, while Arsenal were handed a tough draw with Bayern Munich to contend with if they want to progress to the knockout stages.
