Chelsea's loss to Stoke City last weekend, wrote their names into the history books and not for a good reason.
Since the inaugural English top-flight season in 1888, no defending champions have lost more than half of its opening 12 games. Chelsea's loss to Stoke was their seventh loss in their opening twelve games.
While only of the losses have come against a team expected to challenge for the title in Manchester City, the other six have come against teams that would have been seen as outsiders in their matches.

If you put a €10 bet on Chelsea to lose to Manchester City on August 16th and used the winnings from that bet to wager against Chelsea in their other six Premier League losses, you would have earned more than €300,000.
