"When I went to Leeds first, I was playing on the right wing but you had to play there because Bobby Collins was playing inside-forward and [Don Revie] did sign me as a winger from Manchester United.
"But it wasn't my natural position and there certainly wasn't as much expected from me [in comparison to new United signing Anthony Martial].
"I went for £32,000. This lad is going for £36 million plus add-ons and certainly there wouldn't have been much expected of me going to Leeds, who were then in the Second Division.
"He's young and if he's made of the right stuff - he might not make an impact straight away - but he'll come through.
Loaning Januzaj
"But I'll tell you what I find surprising. Man United have brought a young lad in like this for that amount of money and he's allowed Januzaj to go on loan.
"Now, I thought last year before Van Gaal went to Manchester United that Januzaj was one of the best young players I've seen for a long, long time and I don't think he's handled that situation well.
"He's letting him go on loan and he's only a young lad. But I think he's an outstanding talent, particularly playing on the wing. When he brought him into the team this year, he was playing off Rooney. He didn't play him on the wing at all.
"So I'd be surprised that this lad coming in mightn't be as good a player as Januzaj actually the season before last.
"There will be a lot expected of Martial and a lot needed from him with the way Manchester United are playing at the moment - unless they get Memphis going a bit.
"Memphis scored two good goals in the Champions League but the other matches I've not seen him do anything at all.

Leeds Days
"I was okay coming into the second half of my first season at Leeds. It was different. When I went to Leeds first, they were very, very direct, the way we played.
"I was confused because at Manchester United I was playing on the right wing and with Bobby Charlton and Denis Law and they'd get the ball into you and then you were supposed to do your stuff from there.
"I found at Leeds, I was bypassed a lot and especially at the end of the season, I thought about it could I get into the game more and I actually pushed inside a lot more - more or less like another midfielder rather than an out-and-out winger.
"We had Billy Bremner playing in the middle and Bobby Collins who was an excellent player. But I became an extra midfield player-cum-winger rather than just a winger.
"I thought about it and said 'I'm not doing what I should be doing and I'm not contributing enough' and I was playing as I did at Manchester United out wide on the wing and waiting for the ball to come and that wasn't happening.
"So I decided that I was going to push in a little bit and become more of a right-sided midfield player going wide rather than the other way round."
