"I'm not sure he will go and make many caps"

Former Ireland international Alan McLoughlin does not expect Jack Grealish to make an long term impression in the England squad.

Speaking to Oisin Langan on Newstalk Lunchtime, McLoughlin said that Roy Hodgson must have made "some guarantees" to Grealish and ensure him some game time before Euro 2016.

"I'm not sure he will go and make many caps" for England, McLoughlin added. He said that the Aston Villa midfielder will find it difficult to get in the team with stars such as Ross Barkley and Jonjo Shelvey already impressing at club and international level.

The former Ireland international cannot see the 20 year old becoming a regular in the England midfield. "Long term, I'd be surprised if he made more than 10 or 15 caps".

In a statement released in the last hour, Grealish said it "was not an easy decision" before stating he chose to "represent the country of my birth".
